The effective interaction between business and information and communications technology (ICT) is a critical element in Ireland's continued economic development. In a rapidly changing environment, companies need to embrace the potential of the digital marketplace in order to win new customers, source cheaper suppliers and work more productively. Similarly, if Ireland is to maintain and expand its role in the global economy, then it is imperative that our ICT infrastructure be developed to a world class standard.

The Chambers Ireland Digital Policy Council brings together suppliers and users of ICT from innovative, new and established technology companies. The Council contributes to Chambers Ireland"s knowledge and expertise in the field and provides a forum to identify and discuss solutions to Ireland’s ICT deficits. Areas of work on which the council is particularly focused include:

  • Increasing the country’s PC penetration rates, which are well below the EU average
  • Stimulating broadband supply and demand
  • Building SME e-business awareness
  • Encouraging investment in e-government
  • Enhancing ICT skills and training needs.
