Galway Chamber - Enterprise Europe Network officer (Maternity Leave Cover)

Starting November 2009 the role involves the following core activities:

  • Answer enquiries from local businesses, other Enterprise Europe Network centres and overseas companies on issues relating to cross border trade.
  • Research content and edit monthly newsletter "Business Connect Europe" and issuing to mailing list
  • Promote the services of the Enterprise Europe Network at information events (stands, presentations), media (via chamber public relations officer), networking events. 
  • Devise regular ezines to members and non-members of Galway Chamber of Commerce on topics and events of interest to business
  • Encourage businesses to participate in the Business to Business Matching service and upload their profiles to the central profile exchange portal
  • Liaise with fellow Enterprise Europe Network colleagues in the Irish consortium of centres
  • Deliver on specific actions identified in EU funded projects already awarded to the chamber of commerce
  • Accurate record keeping for purposes of final reporting to European Commission.

The role provides graduates with an excellent opportunity to engage in international trade and business development with local businesses. Unique aspects to the role involve liasing with the European Commission, EU member state Embassies, Irish State Agencies and Business Support Offices.
 
Suitable candidates should possess the following skills:

  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Good financial and budgetary management. 
  • Work on own initiative and also as part of a team
  • Understanding of International Trade Practice and / or EU policies
  • Strong business acumen and ability to engage with business owners and managers to discuss their requirements 
  • Computer Related Experience - Must be experienced with using Microsoft Office packages particularly WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT.
  • Experience in operating or managing Funded Projects would be desirable.
