The awards recognise the work being carried out by companies in Ireland in improving the lives of their employees and enhancing the civic environment in which they operate. This is a unique competition that offers the business community a chance to promote their efforts in CSR and gain recognition for best practice.

This year's awards were presented across a total of seven areas at a gala awards ceremony in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, on the 24th September 2009.  There were separate categories for large indigenous and multinational corporations in the core CSR themes of Community, Workplace, Environment, and Marketplace. Awards for Best International CSR Programme, Best SME CSR Project and Outstanding Achievement in CSR were also presented.
