Innovation and Best Practice in Irish Local Governement
« Back

Matt Merrigan, John Fitzgerald and Aodh Quinlivan at the launch of
Innovation and Best Practice in Irish Local Government

In May 2009, Chambers Ireland ans SIPTU launched Innovation and Best Practice in Irish Local Government a jointly commissioned book by Aodh Quinlivan and Emmanuelle Schön-Quinlivan of Department of Government at UCC offering fresh insights into the excellent work undertaken by local authorities across Ireland.

Chambers Ireland and SIPTU recognise the need for an adequately funded and staffed service that compares favourably to international experience. We believe that our Local Authorities regularly outperform their counterparts internationally—given the constraints, particularly in terms of funding, under which they operate. We look forward to Local Authorities continuing to do this and present this document as a means of highlighting their contributions to Ireland’s ongoing development story, while also supporting the spreading of knowledge of best practice.

The book was launched at Liberty Hall, with special guest John Fitzgerald, Chair Limerick Regeneration and Grangegorman Development Agency.
