CRH Ireland: Simon Safety Challenge

CRH Simon Safety Challenge is in its second year having commenced in July 2007; it involves a strategic partnership with Simon Community of Ireland (Rep of Ireland) and Simon Community Northern Ireland. The Challenge is to generate a safer work environment, and by each of its plants remaining “accident free” for a three month period, then CRH would make a financial contribution to the nearest “local” Simon location. Both CRH and Simon felt that this was a “win win” situation. In trying to improve safety they were helping and contributing to those less fortunate than themselves. The CRH CSR strategy has enabled the Challenge to work effectively both internally but especially externally by allowing employees to become directly involved in something that can be very positive and give the individual and the community a sense of achievement. This commitment to local communities illustrates CRH’s commitment to its CSR responsibilities.
