Accenture: Capturing Memories and Celebrating Life Achievements

In October 2008, Accenture initiated a six month project with Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI), and the staff at five nursing homes in the South County Dublin and Wicklow area, to meet with senior residents and capture their life stories.  These stories were then collated into a non-commercial keepsake book entitled “Remember the time when...”  To thank all the seniors for participating and to celebrate the launch of the book, a Tea Party was held in the Stillorgan Park Hotel on 3rd April 2009.  Each person who submitted a story was presented with two copies of the book to share with their family and friends.  A total of thirty two stories were captured, edited and approved for print between November 2008 and February 2009.   Invitations were designed in Accenture and sent out in March 2009. In April 2009, family and friends together with the staff at each of the five participating nursing homes joined NHI and Accenture for an afternoon of tea, cake, song and dance to celebrate the memories and life achievements of the senior members of the community, who kindly shared their stories.  To cover the project costs, two fund-raising events were held, a Cake Sale in November 2009 and a Table Quiz in February 2009. The Accenture Senior Management team also made a contribution to the funding of this project.
