Support SMEs and Entrepreneurship
More needs to be done to support our SMEs and job creating entrepreneurs. Current tax structures penalise those innovative individuals who take risks and create much needed jobs. Ireland should encourage entrepreneurship and the growth of indigenous industries through ending the tax discrimination against the self employed. The USC for self employed earnings over €100,000 should be brought in line with PAYE workers. The tax credit system should also be more equitable by allowing the self employed to avail of a tax credit similar to the PAYE worker. Capital Gains Taxes should be more competitive in order to encourage investment in Irish companies and support entrepreneurs.
