Effective Planning - National Planning Framework

As greater investment in infrastructure is essential in coming years an efficient planning system for major infrastructure projects is crucial to ensure that existing businesses can expand and grow within Ireland. All planning decisions should be informed by evidence-based and strategic planning policies and planning processes must be reformed to ensure that large scale infrastructure and housing developments can be processed as efficiently as possible.

National Planning Framework

Ireland needs a robust National Planning Framework to ensure that capital investment and infrastructure plans are implemented through best practice planning. A National Planning Framework must provide a strategic context for the development of regional economic and spatial strategies. To ensure its success, there must also be political commitment, nationally and locally to the full implementation of a National Planning Framework.

Chambers Ireland's submission to the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government is available to download hereOur submission to the consultation process reflects our aims for Ireland to be a country with a flourishing economy and society that offers opportunity for all in 2040. Our submission supports the concept of city regions as drivers of growth, ensuring regional economic development based on the concept of each region fulfilling its full unique potential. It is essential that the NPF, when developed, has political buy-in and is implementable in order for it to achieve a better Ireland for all.
