CSR Good for business, Good for all – CSR Hub

Chambers Ireland has been advocating for and promoting the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for years. Our Chamber Network has an active interest in the core focus of CSR as Chambers are at the heart of the communities in which they operate and are continuously striving to improve the local area and community in which Chamber members operate.

The Government formally recognised the important role of CSR through the 2014 National Plan on Corporate Social Responsibility. It was under this plan that the National Stakeholder Forum was formed. Chambers Ireland is proud to be an active member of the National CSR Stakeholder Forum. In order to increase awareness of CSR and its benefits to business and wider society the Forum created the website CSRHub.ie and twitter account @CSRHubIrl. The website brings together all the key CSR resources in Ireland and provides a central repository of information on CSR which is accessible to all businesses interested in learning more about sustainable business practices. It also provides useful contacts and best practice examples.

The vision of the National Plan on CSR was that Ireland will be recognised as a Centre of Excellence for responsible and sustainable business practice through the adoption and implementation of best practice in CSR. This is something that Chambers Ireland encourages as an important aim and through the combined efforts of all members of the National Stakeholder Forum and through the wider business community engaging in CSR, we can show leadership internationally in responsible business practices. We should do this not only because of all the positives this creates within Ireland and within Irish businesses but because it also helps us to develop a competitive economic advantage through promoting our country as a centre of CSR excellence.
