The 2025 Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards took place on Thursday, 27th November 2025. South Dublin were named Local Authority of the Year 2025. The 2026 Awards will open in early 2026. Click here for the full press release
Now in its 22nd year, the awards recognise outstanding achievement in local government, with 98 Local Authority projects shortlisted across 16 categories. The shortlist highlights the dedication, innovation and impact taking place within communities across Ireland.

The Excellence in Local Government Awards are held in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. These awards showcase best practice in local government and recognise the skills, hard work, innovation and enthusiasm within local government that can often go unrecognised.
