Implementation the Big Challenge for National Aviation Policy

Chambers Ireland today (20/08/2015) welcomed the publication of a National Aviation Policy for Ireland.

Speaking today, Ian Talbot, Chief Executive of Chambers Ireland, said: “As an island economy, a new national aviation policy has long been needed to underpin our nation’s growth and to secure our future interconnectivity with Europe and the wider world.”

“Today’s publication is a very positive outcome of a process involving Chambers around the country as key stakeholders. The new policy contains a number of references to specific recommendations made by Chambers, and we are pleased to see that the aviation sector has now been recognised as critical for underpinning regional growth and improving business access to export markets”.

“However, while reference is made to the prioritisation of Dublin as a secondary hub and Cork and Shannon to promote tourism and regional development, we now need to see more specific actions and timelines as to how this will be achieved.”
