Press Release Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland Broadens Lending Landscape for SMEs

Chambers Ireland has today (31/10/14) welcomed the launch of the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) and highlighted the positive impact it will have on the domestic economy.

Speaking this morning, Ian Talbot, Chief Executive, Chambers Ireland said “The SBCI will be a welcome addition to the funding landscape for Irish SMEs, particularly those businesses that are focused on the domestic market. The flexibility of payment terms and lower cost of capital will facilitate the expansion of small businesses that are experiencing growth due to improved market conditions. The Government must invest in a communications plan to raise awareness of this and other initiatives.”

“There is clearly a growth in confidence and activity under way in the economy. This initiative, combined with the recent banking stress test results, demonstrates that credit is becoming increasingly available and should encourage all businesses in need of credit to proactively engage with their banks to seek funding,” he concluded.
